Doing your Hair, Nails, and Make-up:

The options for hair, nails, and make-up are endless. Most girls have their hair done professionally for prom. If you have an important birthday party, recital, or reception coming up, get your hair done by a stylist in the way you want it for prom. This way, if you do not love your hair-style the first time around, you can get it perfected the second time around for prom. Also, wear a buttoned-up shirt when you are getting your hair done. Then you will not mess up your hair when changing into your prom dress. Lastly, leave at least 2 hours to get your hair done.

Most people don’t realize that alcohol is a drug. In fact, it is a depressant and the most commonly used drug in the entire world. At first, it initiates a ’happy’ feeling and relieves anxiety. Then it causes blurred vision, slurred speech, loss in motor function and at higher levels — poisoning and death.

According to studies, individuals who drink before the age of 17 are three times more likely to develop an addiction than those who starts drinking at the legal age of 21. If we examine the addiction rates of pre-teen drinkers, the numbers increase dramatically.

Marijuana, pot, weed, blunts, joints, one-hitters — this drug contains THC and is dangerous to the body because it acts like a stimulant and depressant, increasing the heart rate, lowering body temperature, interfering with muscle function and reaction time.

Don’t let the hype that marijuana is not a big deal fool you. Pot smokers have a higher rate of drop-out rates in school, depression and schizophrenia. More young people are in treatment facilities for marijuana dependency than all other illegal drugs combined.

Since both are depressants, the combination of alcohol and marijuana doubles the affects on the body. Now what if Bill was obsessed with his large head and tried desperate measures to reduce its size. I can’t imagine what he would do but he might end up hurting himself in some way!

This may be somewhat funny but the same could be true with you. You’re still growing into an adult and you may feel a bit awkward and may even be teased about your physical appearance yet most likely things will work out. Bill didn’t care; he told everyone that his big head housed an enormously large brain. If you think about it, that was a pretty smart attitude to have!

You need to be reasonable with your view of yourself. Ask “Do I feel I am overweight or is everyone telling me I am?” Now if you feel you do need to lose a few pounds why not get a second opinion just to be safe. Ask your parents. I know, you don’t want to get them involved. Well it is a good idea but if you would rather not you could ask another adult, (not a teenager), that you feel comfortable with maybe a relative or your teacher (your doctor?).
